We recently completed a garden rejuvenation in North Balwyn, transforming the backyard from an unusable area of long grass and building debris into an inviting expanse of lawn and lush gardenbeds. After clearing the long grass we levelled the area and constructed garden edging around the fenceline. Then it was time to prepare the ground for instant turf, spreading topsoil over the levelled area and in the gardenbeds.

Kings Pride Buffalo instant turf was laid and the gardenbeds planted with a row of Lily Pily Backyard Bliss. These are a fast growing variety with a compact habit which will be grown into a hedge. Acacia Dazzlers were planted along the front of the gardenbeds forming a soft, green border. Black mulch was spread over the gardenbeds to reduce water evaporation from the soil and to reduce weed growth.

Lastly the side walkway was levelled and a layer of crushed rock put down. Pavers were set on a mortar base and decorative white pebbles spread around the pavers along the length of the walkway.

The finished product is a backyard oasis of lush, green lawn and an instant garden. The owners were looking forward to entertaining friends and family on their back deck, watching their young children play on the back lawn.
